Student Life at Washington State University Pullman

Campus and Community
Pullman is located in the southeastern corner of Washington and lies in the heart of the Palouse prairie, a region of extraordinary beauty distinguished by rolling, dune-like hills. You won't find smog or traffic jams in Pullman. Rather, you'll find a dynamic setting dominated by a college-town atmosphere with a community that truly appreciates its University and students. The University of Idaho lies only eight miles away and further enhances cultural and social opportunities. It's a great place to raise a family-or just enjoy every aspect of outdoor recreation, nature, and culture.

If you're interested in recreation...
Opportunities for world-class mountaineering, rafting, backpacking, fishing, skiing, camping, mountain biking, and other activities abound. Within easy reach are multiple mountain ranges (two notable ranges are the Wallowa and Blue Mountains), numerous lakes (Lake Coeur d'Alene, Lake Pend Orielle, Priest Lake), large rivers such as the Columbia, Snake, Salmon, and Clearwater, and an extraor dinarily high number of national and state parks. Washington State University is a member of the Pac-10 Athletic Conference and competes in sports ranging from football and basketball to swimming and golf.

More graduate student-life information can be found on the Graduate School's web site at www.gradsch.wsu.edu/studentlife.html.
